Albert’s hues were fixated on the doorway, awaiting the woman who matched the description of the person he was expecting. Moments passed as the bees busied themselves with the tables, removing plates and presenting others to their respective places. Once…

Helena forced a smile. She could sense the sarcasm in his voice, and it was all she could do to not shoot the man.
Not that she would shoot him, of course. At least not here, not now… Not until she got answers. Though if she were honest, she wasn’t even sure she could. There’s something about this Belkser guy that she finds to be rather… unsettling.

She doesn’t like him and she doesn’t like this setup at all, but for Deborah’s sake, she’ll suck this up and smile.

"Actually…" Helena casually surveyed the menu, pretending not to hear the taunt in his tone. I think I’d have caprese for my starter, the capellaci for my pasta," she said, closing the menu.

Albert’s hues were fixated on the doorway, awaiting the woman who matched the description of the person he was expecting. Moments passed as the bees busied themselves with the tables, removing plates and presenting others to their respective places. Once the woman in the yellow cocktail dress arrived, ushered by one of the workers, the hardened features atop the material, he knew his guest had taken the bait as he knew she would. He had to admit, she was mildly attractive taking into account her age.

“I see you came.” The smoothness of his voice slid out from his thin lips, then took a sip from the wine they had ordered earlier, savoring the fruity texture and taste, before placing it down again. “Sit, Miss Harper.” He motioned towards the chair opposite him. “You do look remarkably beautiful this evening. Before we begin to speak about business, I believe now is the most punctual of times to order dinner, as befitting to our location. What do you intend on having, my dear?”

She spotted him from afar. Or rather, felt that he was her contact before the maitre d’ practically disposed her at his table.

Walter Belkser — not his real name, she thought, as well — was a severe-looking man, and also a little… strange. He wore his suit like he was born in it, moved with all the refined grace of one used to luxury, and yet kept his sunglasses on indoors against decorum. Despite the dark glasses obscuring his eyes, she could tell from his lean figure and chiseled profile that he may very well be a looker.

Except he didn’t really strike the young agent as the approachable type. There was something intimidating about him, something dark and powerful that she could not quite put her finger on. But she would be damned if she let herself be daunted by the aura she perceived him to have. So when he commented on her appearance, she returned the courtesy albeit with less formality than his words carried. She’s not very fond of pleasantries, after all. “You don’t look so bad yourself, Mr. Belkser. This is my first time here, so I was hoping you could help me with the menu.”

It's good to see you back, Agent Harper! Hope you'll stay with us longer than last time. How have you been?

Good to see you, too, Agent Birkin! I sure hope I can stay longer, but you know how it is; I go where they send me.

Enough of that, though — I’m good. And you?

((Unlurking because she received intel that it is now her turn to respond to a thread. Ehehe. Hi?))

[Txt]: Should I really use a cooking spray? Or just brushing the pie plate with little oil will do? Thank you so much for the recipe guide, btw! Ah, oh. Is that his new nickname nowadays?
not-ashley-graham

[txt]: Depends on your preference and your tools, but I personally prefer the spray. Less calories, too. ;) And yes, especially on mornings. Have you been around him at 5 in the morning? I swear it’s all I can do not to strangle him.

[Txt]: Just the classic American apple pie. I'm not spoiling him... Am I spoiling him? Uhm, I just want to make sure he eats properly. I always have a feeling he doesn't since he's always searching for food. And we know how he is when he's hungry.

[txt]: Ah, should be easy. Will send you the standard recipe with notations via e-mail. ;) As for Agent Snarkypants, he’s probably just nursing a new parasite what with his penchant for wading through sewage.

[Txt]: You made one before? Wow. Well yeah, for me, everything's so complicated. Can you share some tips? :D By the way, do you also know how to make a good steak? So that I could bring some to Leon one of these days instead of a carry-out.
not-ashley-graham

[txt]: Yeah, I have. Tip… Hm. What kind of apple pie are you going for? And sure thing on the steak, but we really need to stop spoiling Leon.
